A Message from the President
We are in the midst of a time that is different and challenging. It is yet another opportunity to show our students, stakeholders, and ourselves just how strong we are as a community.
As we face the current COVID-19 public health crisis, I’ve seen our talented faculty launch into new learning modes to engage our students remotely. The care they have for our students and their support for each other during this transition to temporary remote operations is inspiring. Our Information Technology department distributed laptops expeditiously; our Pandemic Response Team (PRT) began to execute a comprehensive plan that will guide us in the short and long term; our Media Techs rapidly deployed tech-savvy responses; and our staff have been thinking outside the box and creating solutions to how operations can and will continue.
Extending Spring Break, beginning telework and closing the college for in-person activities were important measures to ensure our safety and well-being in creating a safe learning and working environment. I am especially grateful for the collaboration, courage, collegiality, and calm exhibited by members of the college community even as many work to manage the impact of this crisis on their own personal circumstances alongside their professional obligations. The support of colleagues and institutional adaptability are huge factors in making all of this work. These actions and behaviors demonstrate the very best of resiliency which is so important for our students and community to see and feel and know.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and for keeping in touch with students and each other to stay engaged and on course. I have no doubt that once we return to campus and our offices and classrooms, we will have evolved in new ways determined, as ever, to ensure the best possible outcomes for those we serve.
